Washington Foundation Receives $200,000 From The African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund

The James W. and Janie Rogella Washington Foundation is deeply honored to receive a $200,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund's Descendant and Family Stewardship Initiative!

The funding, supported by a generous gift from the Mellon Foundation, will advance the foundation’s stewardship initiatives, with an incredible opportunity to strengthen organizational capacity, participate in knowledge-sharing, and benefit from guidance and technical assistance from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The Washington Foundation is one of 24 sites to receive a total of $3 million in grant funding to organize ongoing preservation activities for historic sites, buildings, and landscapes that represent Black cultural heritage. With more than $150 million raised, the Action Fund is the largest U.S. resource dedicated to the preservation of African American historic places.
