On September 7, 2025, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) hosted the panel discussion “The Living Legacy of James W. Washington, Jr.” The panelists included Washington Foundation Artists-In-Residence Esther Ervin, June Sekiguchi, and Stewart Wong. Each artist focused on their residency experience at the Dr. James & Janie Washington Cultural Center.

Following the program was a closing party reception that included Washington Foundation Board members, BIMA Board members, and the Artists-in-Residence with their guests. Washington Foundation Executive Director Rev. Dr. LaVerne Hall, Washington Foundation President Larry Tolliver, and Chief Curator Greg Robinson delivered remarks.
